Dale “Dude” Robert Wisbey, 95, of Shawnee, formerly of Salina, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 5th, 2019. He was still sharp as a tack and kept his sense of humor.

Dude was born on a farm in Lincoln, Nebraska to William Wesley & Signey Elizabeth Wisbey (Sundeen) on November 29th, 1923.  He was the youngest of 5 children.  He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in Europe.  He married Gwen E. Story also of Lincoln on April 25th, 1943. They moved to Salina in 1958.  They celebrated their 75thWedding Anniversary in 2018.

Dude was a great salesman and worked for Wickstrom Beauty Supply, (later Heckel Brothers) and retired in 1986.  He loved the game of golf picking up his first club at age 5.  He won many tournaments over the years, first at the Hillcrest Country Club in Lincoln, then later in Salina, including the City Four Ball in 1974 with partner, Frank Ferson and the Salina Charities at the Salina Country Club where they were members for many years. He had 6 Holes in One during his lifetime and he shot his age several times beginning at age 69.

He is survived by his wife Gwen, of the home, children Barbara, Dennis, Susie Hawkins and Jodi Myers (John) and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Wesley, Oscar and Charlie; sister Violet and son in law, Rich Hawkins.

Dude will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He chose cremation and requested there be no service.
