Eugene J. Golden
Eugene J. Golden, of Lenexa, KS, age 65, passed away suddenly on October 28, 2019 at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission Hospital. Gene was the beloved husband of Deborah Sue (Huff) since March 1977. He was the loving father of Timothy and Cassandra (Jeffrey) Davidson and adoring grandfather of Viola. Born in San Francisco, CA to Eugene W. and Eleanor (Larimore) Golden; he was raised by Richard & Eleanor Golden. He is also survived by his brothers David (Maureen), Frank (Louise), Ted (Cindy) and sister Laura (Dan) Allen; in-law to Robin Huff and Mike Huff; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by Eugene W. and Richard. A graduate of Lincoln Way High School in New Lenox, IL and the National College of Education in Evanston, IL. Gene enjoyed a lengthy career with General Motors beginning with Fisher Body in 1977 and then transferring to the Fairfax Plant in Kansas City in 1987. He had 42 years of service at the time of his passing. Gene was a volunteer firefighter in Mokena, Illinois for ten years, reaching the rank of Lieutenant prior to his move to the Kansas City area. Gene also volunteered for the Boy Scouts of America Troop 401 from 1989 until 1996.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 16, from 12:00 – 1:00p.m., followed by service at 1:00 p.m. at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Prairie Village, KS. Private Inurnment will be held at Johnson County Funeral Chapel & Memorial Gardens in Overland Park, KS.
