Hilda A. (Lahmann) Jones
Hilda A. (Lahmann) Jones 99 passed away on December 14, 2019.
Hilda was born March 27, 1920 in Gandy, Nebraska to Bernhardt and Ida (Wisch) Lahmann and grew up on a farm in Wakeeney, Kansas. She left home to attend cosmetology school and was a hairdresser/beautician for nearly 60 years.
She was married to R. Eugene Jones on June 8, 1941 in Garden City, Kansas until his death April 29, 2000. They had three children: Lanny, DonaDe and Gale, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Spending time with family and friends was very important to her and she always made time for them. She also had many interests and was very talented. She created beautiful paintings on china, did wood carvings, played piano and the organ, participated in several choirs, did floral design, knitting and sewing of almost anything you can imagine, was an excellent cook, and was always keen to learn new things. She was also active in church and other organizations, with specific interest in ones for the blind.
Hilda was very physically active, walking everywhere until suffering a stroke in November 2019. Even then she worked to regain partial mobility and it seemed she would overcome this and be here to celebrate her 100th birthday in March 2020. It was not meant to be. She moved on to be with the Lord while listening to the music that she loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gene, son Lanny, seven of her eight brothers: Henry, Edgar, Ralph, Kenneth, Alvin, Raymond and Harvey, and her parents.
Survivors include her brother Everett (Shirley) Lahmann of Nevada, son B. Gale (Vickie) Jones of Kansas, daughter DonaDe (John) Smith of Washington, five grandchildren: Brandon (Melissa) Jones, Rachael (Lucas) Stoneking, Geff (Lisa) Smith, Craig (Ashley) Smith, Marc Smith; and eight great grandchildren: Elliotte and Marlo Jones, Easton and Rian Stoneking, Giuliana and Gianni Smith, Hayzlene and Braiden Smith; Sisters-in-Law Doris Ogletree of Kansas and Louise Lahmann of Oregon, and many other family members and friends.
Service at Evergreen for their community and the family will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 2:30 PM.
Celebration of Life will be Saturday, January 18, 2020 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at the home of Gale & Vickie Jones.
