Jody Dubois of Olathe, Kansas peacefully passed away at the age of 43 on March 20, 2021.

Jody Dubois was born on March 4, 1978 in Denver, Colorado to Norman and Janis Dubois. She grew up in Colorado, Manhattan, KS, and later Olathe, KS.

After attending Olathe South High School, Jody graduated from Kansas State University. She worked for several years in social work, helping others which was very important to her. She went on to have a successful career in retail in various management/buyer/planner roles for Nordstrom, Strasburg Children’s Company, Payless Shoe Source, JCPenney, and Macy’s, taking her to New York, Florida, Texas, Colorado and back to her “home town” Kansas City.

Jody was actively involved in volunteer work, including her passion for helping pitbull dogs. She spent countless hours supporting Missouri Pitbull Rescue by volunteering at the shelter and events. Jody helped manage adoptions for the shelter and fostered many pitbull dogs, ensuring dozens of dogs found safe and loving forever homes.

Jody had a huge heart and made a dramatic impact on the lives of those she loved. She was a selfless person and always there for her family and friends. She was always willing to listen and provide calm, sound advice, especially in the last year of her life. This is her legacy to her family and what she will be remembered for.

She is survived by her parents, Norman and Janis Dubois; her sisters, Kara Winkler and, Kam Howard; brothers-in-law, David Winkler and, Scott Howard; nieces, Molly Winkler, Brynn Winkler, Abby Howard, and Ava Howard; nephews, Jack Winkler, Oscar Winkler and, Blake Howard; and her beloved pitbulls Lucky and, Drama. She was proceeded in death by her twin daughters who were born and passed away in October of 2013.

Service

The family will hold a private ceremony. A celebration of Jody’s life will be held on May 1st at the Westport Flea Market from 4-7pm. This event will follow current health guidelines including capacity limits. Family and friends are encouraged to RSVP by visiting the link below.

    Dear Family,
    I was so saddened to hear of Jody’s passing. I know she was a friend of my daughter, Dana McCollam-Allison who also passed away in 2013. May your memories be a blessing to you always. Cathy Caplan
