Lois Ileene Dal Porto

20190607_123454

Lois Ileene Dal Porto, 83, of Shawnee Mission, Kansas, passed away on June 6, 2019 at Trinity Nursing and Rehab in Merriam KS.  She was born April 9, 1936 to Arthur and Dorothy (Volz) Elyea in Highmore, South Dakota. She met the love of her life, Jerry Dal Porto, an Air Force Journalist, at Ellsworth Air Force Base and they married in January 1957.  In addition to being a wife and mother, Lois worked a variety of jobs; however, her priorities were always Faith and Family.

In recent years she faced several health challenges, always with grace and a positive attitude insisting she had a great quality of life.  She loved reminiscing about the years she and Jerry spent producing wedding videos for countless couples and loved watching “Say Yes to the Dress” and the Hallmark Channel.  She was a fan of the Royals and Chiefs, mostly because they reminded her of Jerry.

The unconditional love she always showed the entire family, the great example of a wife and mother, and maybe most importantly her unwavering faith have greatly influenced her family tree as well as countless others that crossed her path.  For those characteristics, and the many memories that make us smile and laugh, those who know her remember her fondly.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Tami (Marlon) Towse of Bella Vista, AR, Cheri (Ivan) Hambleton of Kansas City, KS, Beth Gray of Gardner, KS, and Gene (Sarah) Dal Porto of Oxford, PA; grandchildren, Joel Hambleton, Missy Kolander, Ryan Dal Porto, Lexa Treadwell, Shelly Rivera, Victoria Kratzberg, Maron Towse, Kattie Soileau, Jessica Hambleton, Eric Hambleton, Hannah Dal Porto and Ben Dal Porto; 16 great-grandchildren and counting; and sisters Sharon Clayton of Medina, NY and Sylvia Hoffman of Redfield. SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jerry Dal Porto, grandson Destin Towse, and siblings Duane Elyea, Robert Elyea, and Joyce Owen.

Dear Lois will be lovingly remembered for all of my days. It has been difficult for Eben and I to have not been able to attend the memorial services in honor and celebration of her beautiful life. We missed being with all your precious family and our friends who we have loved and known. We were on the East Coast visiting family when the Lord called Lois into His eternal Presence. I know her joy is full. It’s our hearts that will miss the meaningful connection and fellowship with her, but we are one in the Spirit and in the body of Christ. May God comfort all of you, all of us. Annie & Eben The comments of our dear long-time friends, Greg and Ann Peterson, are beautifully captured and affirmed by us as well.

I met Ms. Lois at Delaware about a year and half when I started doing the residents hair. She encouraged me every day that the residents would start coming in the shop to get their hair done. I remember her asking me every day. ” She would say do you have any takers? ” And I would say no ma’am. Then she would tell me don t worry they will come. And they did and still coming. She was the first one to take me out of my comfort zone in doing her eye-brows. She would tell me I trust you-you are going to do good. She would tell me that sometime when she needed something or someone’s help with something she woul pray and ask God if he would send me in her room for something. And everytime I would show up in her room. And she would say I just prayed and ask God to send you over here cause I needed help with this or that ect. I thank God that He has blessed me to meet such a wonderful Godly woman. I miss you Ms. Lois and I know that we will see each other again in heaven. I love you.

When, I think of Lois Del Porto A long time friend of my wife’s and II’m reminded of what the apostle Paul said in The Bible in second Timothy 1:5 about his friend and spiritual son Timothy, how he remembered the sincere faith of his grandmother Lois and mother Eunice That was also in him.I feel my faith has been more sincere and strong because of Lois and Jerry’s prayers and ministry to me and my wife over the years that We fellowship at Full Faith South.Along with their service and servants heart that they had. They had a big impact on my spiritual life and my marriage.
They were great mentors to me and a witness of what a Christian marriage and a Godly couple lived and look like. And both Lois and Jerry’s prophetic words of wisdom they spoke into our lives. I will always remember them as spiritual parents or grandparents to us and others. She will be missed in many peoples lives. But what she leaves behind will give us strength ,encouragement to continue to carry out the things of God in his kingdom. And passed them on to others Who are living a life discipleship in the kingdom of God Because Louis and Jerry Moreland that for everyone they came in contact with. They will truly be missed but I also know that I will see them again one day we will all rejoice together in the kingdom of heaven with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and until that day I have all the memories and all that they put into my life with our ministry and love and service I am so thankful and grateful to God for bringing them into my life when He did. I praise God for them. And for how they touched so many people their lives together. I believe her spiritual words and prayers for me still give me strength to this day as I walk with the Lord Jesus. I believe they were prophetic in many ways.My prayers will be with all of her family and friends. Greg and Ann Peterson.

So sorry to hear of Lois’ passing. I know she is rejoicing in heaven right now and that we who believe will see her again. I was in a small group with her while attending Full Faith church. She was such an encouragement to me as I was going through a divorce. Years later we ran into each other and she attended my wedding to my 2nd husband. Will see you later dear friend. Praying for those who loved her.
