Lois Sue Mirkin

Mirkin

Lois Sue Mirkin, 82, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away at home on December 22, 2020. Lois was born in New York in 1938 to the late Samuel and Flora Ruttenberg.

She attended Bronx Science High School, Cornell University, Hunter College, and Cooper Union. She and her former husband, the late Harris George Mirkin, were part of the Ethiopia I Project as Peace Corp Volunteers from 1962-1964. She attended the Kansas City Art Institute and also taught there. She created beautiful pottery. She had a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy and worked as an Art Therapist at Crittenton and Gillis Home.

She passionately studied Jin Shin Jyutsu and helped clients, neighbors and friends live healthier lives. We will be honoring her on May 8th with a celebration of life in her garden. Mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, friend, mentor, neighbor, teacher, avid gardener, blessed soul — the world is an emptier place without her. We miss her dearly.
