Surrounded by family and after receiving last rites, Robert Lee Heath passed away the evening of August 29th, 2019. He was born July 1, 1938 the son of Elizabeth (Kallenger) and Harold Heath in Kansas City, MO. Bob attended St. Joseph Grade School and High School in Shawnee and was a part of the Shawnee community for the remainder of his life. He worked long hours while completing trade school for mechanics and an apprenticeship in welding. After working his way to being a top supervising hub manager at Yellow Freight, he decided to leave and started his own company in 1979. He was best known for his exceptional ability to diagnose and repair the most complex mechanical problems.
Bob loved spending time with family, and enjoyed vacation trips to the lake, boating, and campfire nights. He taught his daughters to swim, fish, shoot, camp, change tires and oil, how to do house-hold projects and much more. Through the example of his life, he taught his family, and those around him valuable lessons in honesty, integrity, faith in God, and the importance of a strong work ethic. Having lost loved-ones before, it was clear his most valuable keepsake was his family.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Elsie and Harold Heath, and his step-father Frank Triebel, son Patrick Joseph, brothers, Joe and Tommy, and sister, Margaret Ann. He is survived by his faithful and loving wife of 36 years Rita (Sullivan) Heath; daughters Kimberly and Heidi; sons Bobby of Springfield, VA, and John and wife Stephanie of Shawnee; brother Chuck and wife Tammy; and four grandchildren Rachel, Claire, Crystal, and Amanda as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. with the Funeral Mass following at 10:30 a.m. on Monday September 9th, 2019 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 13615 West 92nd Street Lenexa, KS.
