Robert W. Blattman 83 of Kansas City KS. passed away on February the 3rd, 2020.

Robert is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary. He is preceded in death by his oldest child, Sharon Haubein. He is survived by his other three children: Carole Tomlinson (Robert), Steven Blattman (Linda) and David Blattman (Jay).

He is also survived by his grandchildren Kelly (Tim) Green, Phillip Tomlinson, Kyle (Elizabeth) Haubein, Christopher (Megan) Tomlinson, Ben (Allison) Lacost, Maggie Lacost, and his great-grandchildren Kayden, Kayley and Cameron Green, Briana and Dylan Lacost and Matthew Lacost. He is also survived by his brother Greg Blattman and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Robert spent his professional career at Hodgdon Powder Company.  Robert and Mary were the owners of Blatt’s Tackle shop in Shawnee KS for over 10 years. He was an accomplished fisherman and a talented craftsman in creating fly fishing rods. Robert is a veteran of the United States Navy.

He was an opinionated man and wasn’t afraid to share it. He may have expressed himself as a gruff exterior but in reality, he was a kind and caring person. He was always willing to help others, and was an excellent provider for his family and faced the struggles of life with practicality and humor. He will be greatly missed.

Service

Services will be held on Saturday, February the 15th at 1:00 pm. at Bristol Hill United Methodist Church, 4826 County Line Rd. Kansas City, KS 66106.

    Mary, I’m so sorry for your loss. I love what you said in the description of Bob. So true, hard on the outside, soft and gooey on the inside. I know he will be greatly missed by you, yours and many others. Love you and thinking of you and yours.
