Samuel Neil Pappas

Samuel Neil Pappas, 64, went home to be with the lord on the morning of August 3rd, 2019 at his home in Overland Park, KS. He passed away peacefully, yet unexpectedly, in his sleep. Sam is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Beth (Greenlee), son Jimmy Pappas, daughters Mallorie (Jeremy) Dautenhahn and Emily (Ryan) Evans, his beloved grandchildren Noah, Sam, Jack, Charlie and Ila, his Mother Ila Mae Pappas, brother James G. Pappas and sisters Cheryl (Kenny) Hurst, Elena (Eldon) Nuss and their families including 9 nieces and 1 nephew. He was preceded in death by his father Demetri S. Pappas.

Sam was born, raised, and lived in Kansas City. In his younger years Sam was a standout athlete, coach and mentor to young baseball players. A sports enthusiast, Sam loved cheering for the Jayhawks, the Chiefs and Royals. After graduating from Kansas University, Sam went on to run the Family business, one of the oldest courier services in Kansas City: Dial Cartage. He left behind a strong and prosperous business.

Sam had a generous and faithful heart. He was a family man who always had a story to tell and a smile on his face. He loved to have a nice dinner with his bride, and a road trip to Weston, MO. Sam was an excellent father, and a beloved PaPou. He spent time collecting hot wheel cars for his grand kids and was known to bring them over on Saturday mornings with a box of doughnuts.

Visitation to be held on Saturday, August 10th at 9:00 AM Requiem Mass to follow at 9:30. Located at Redemptorist Catholic Church (3333 Broadway BLVD KCMO).
