Wanda L. McDonald
Wanda Lanile McDonald died peacefully on November 27, 2018, at age 95. Wanda was born in Stilwell, Oklahoma, on November 16, 1923, to L.D. Franks and Edna Hunter Franks. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gordon Vasco McDonald and son Myron Carroll McDonald. She is survived by sons Marlan McDonald, Duane McDonald (Julie) and grandchildren Molly, Baker, Katy, Hannah, Peter and Simon, and seven great-grandchildren.
Wanda was raised in eastern Oklahoma and the beautiful Boston Mountains of northwestern Arkansas. During World War II she was employed at a defense plant in Los Angeles, California. She returned to Kansas City after the war and married Gordon Vasco McDonald. They moved to Davenport, Iowa, where her first child was born, then returned to Kansas City where two more sons were born. In 1976 Wanda and Gordon retired to the Savannah River Valley of Georgia and South Carolina.
Central to Wanda’s life was her abiding faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The family wishes to thank all the staff of Shangri-La Living Center of Blue Springs. The family suggests donations may be made to memory care, dementia research or the Salvation Army. Cremation. A visitation will be held Saturday, December 15, 10 a.m.-noon, at Tri-City Baptist Church in Blue Springs.
